Champagne powder skiing
in the Canadian Rockies
20 minute drive from the ski resort with the highest vertical drop in North America
Think of it as the Whistler of the eastern rocky mountains, without the rain or the crowds. However you choose to get down the slopes, Invermere lies on the doorstep of several world-renowned winter destinations blanketed season-long in deep, dry powder. One of the top 10 ski resorts with the highest vertical drop in North America, Panorama Mountain Village is a short twenty minute drive from CastleRock. These hills also include board parks, half pipes and cross-country ski paths.
Or, make your own fresh tracks from the Bugaboo Lodge – birthplace of heli-skiing. For something different, a short drive into Kootenay National Park will take you to the eco-friendly Nipika Mountain Resort on the Kootenay and Palliser river, with some of the best nordic-skiing in southern British Columbia.
Alternatively, within a two-hour drive you can ski at Kicking Horse (Golden), Kimberley, Fernie, Lake Louise, Sunshine (Banff), and Banff Norquay.
